Super Magbot is part puzzle and part precision platformer game made by astral pixel, in it you play as Magbot a robot explorer on a quest to try and stop an evil intergalactic villain from destroying his home planet MagTek, armed only with an electromagnet that can switch between the positive (red) and negative (blue) polarities at will.

Traverse 100+ levels of dangerous platforming environments using magnetic force, use it to pull yourself up or push yourself by repelling. The magnetic force is your primary tool for traversing the environment since Magbot is too heavy to jump on his own.

Each level you can collect star fragments these are hard-to-reach objectives that show true mastery of the level, these can unlock additional challenges down the line.

Super Magbot has a classic pixel-era aesthetic with its vibrant 16-bit era art style and an energetic chiptune soundtrack made in collaboration with Moonsailor.

Reviews

Super Magbot is a highlight in the puzzle platformer genre. It sports unique gameplay that I haven’t seen anywhere else, and it’s definitely the most fun I’ve had with magnets in years. The rest of the package isn’t as groundbreaking as the gameplay, but it’s still totally solid. Some bland writing and so-so music aside, this is a killer addition to any sidescrolling platforming fans collection.
