Chrono Cross the Radical Dreamers is a party-based JRPG, an HD remaster of the original Chrono Cross game released in 1999 for the original PlayStation, Radical dreamers adds much-needed quality of life changes, Visual upgrades, new music, and a host of other new features. Step into the shoes of a teenager named Serge as he accidentally slips into an alternate world in which he drowned on the beach 10 years ago after discovering this fact either by fate or pure chance he meets a thief named “Kid” changing the course of the two timelines forever, the classic adventure starts here.  

• The models of the over 40 potential party members, enemies, backgrounds, etc. have been converted to HD making them look crisp on modern displays, some brand-new artwork and character redesigns have also been worked on by the original designer Nobuteru Yuuki, fonts and other Hud’s have also received a similar polishing.
• Acclaimed composer Yasunori Mitsuda has also returned to the franchise, remastering most of the tracks improving their sound quality, and a new secret track.
• A host of quality-of-life changes has also come to the game’s combat system: an auto-battle function, turn on and off enemy encounters, ability to change the game speed, and battle boost if you just want to engage with the story and not worry about hard encounters.
• For those who just want to experience the classic feel of the game though you can do so by just toggling the original graphics, music, background on and off.
• The original “Radical Dreamers” text adventure game is also included in this edition fully localized to English and official subtitles for French, Italian, German, and Spanish.

Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is a great game for anyone who loves JRPGs or wants to check out Chrono Cross for the first time, or again. The updated graphics and battle mechanics make this worth the lower price tag.

In all Chrono Cross is an intriguing cult classic brought back for fans old and new alike. Even despite the touch ups the graphics are clearly that of an older game thanks to the specific style that they chose when originally making Cross, and it isn’t a perfect remaster, some issues do appear in performance (FPS drops occur occasionally). It has an intriguing story and concept that provides a fascinating spin on the classic time travel tropes of ‘saving yourself’ since in Cross, it’s already far too late, and you don’t even know why.
